April kicks off our official start of charter fishing season. Water temperatures are starting to slowly get warmer and the bites start to get better and better. This is a great time to fish Walleye, which in early spring is the best time for big trophy fishing for Walleye.
In April we use vertical jigging and sometimes entice them with live bait. We also have a boat on Lake Huron for the spring salmon run out of Port Huron and Port Sanilac in April and May. Expect a mixed bag of coho, kings, and Atlantic salmon and steelhead.
The best salmon action is from April 15 to May 20th. Starting in May we like to use other techniques such as trolling with bait. By May and June the Walleye are extremely active. Spring fishing in Lake St. Clair is some of the best Walleye fishing in North America.
May and June also have the best smallmouth bass fishing, and the muskie season opens June with a great chance of a trophy. In late spring the water is abundant with fish and this is some of the best times to go fishing and experience an amazing fishing adventure.
