LSC Musky: It’s slime time!
Things just keep getting better folks. We went out yesterday with Daren Couch from way down in Georgia who made a special bucket list trip to tangle with the largest toothy critter we have in our inland lakes. We didn’t have any doubles or triples, but did manage a mean 4-banger! Daren hauled in this beautiful 52″ musky and was happy to give it a bear hug.
With 4 fish on at a time you can manage how hectic things were. We’ve got a big boat, but wow! Lapper bucktails (gold and gold) were the best baits by far. We managed to put better than 10 fish in the boat, with most coming off Puce in 11 FOW. All fish released healthy to fight another day.
Big musky, and plenty of them!/h2>
We had a great trip tonight with Jeff hemmke. Our best luck was off Puce, but fish are around and cruising. This photo was our lone double header but we caught plenty and there was no shortage of biters. Both fish came off of Ziggies: a black perch and a walleye color. Blades also very hot right now: silver/black, silver/red and white trolled very high in 15′ of water. We’ve got a handful of trips left this summer that aren’t booked. If you’re looking to get out, now is the time to call. Tight lines!
Smallies going strong on Lake St. Clair
We do lots of different types of trips with a vast array of different clients:
die hard fishermen, folks that have rarely fished at all, old folks, young folks, businessmen, and guys who are on the trip of a lifetime.
My favorite trip by far, though, is a trip with kids. July 30th was such a trip, and it didn’t disappoint. The smallies were on a great bite and Hannah and her family . Nothing like the smile of a little girl holding up a fish! Best luck today was at the hump off of Belle River. Summer on Lake St. Clair: can’t beat it!
Captain Steve is money on the Musky
Last July we had the pleasure of hosting Babe Winkelman (and crew) for a week of Musky mayhem on Lake St. Clair. Having spent hours and hours casting for “The Fish of 10,000 casts”, The Babe was brand new to trolling for musky. Captain Steve took the time to fill him in on the nuances, and a good time was had by all. Anyway, the episode is finally complete, and some of you may have seen it airing on NBC Sports all week. If you didn’t, don’t fret! See the episode on Youtube below:
Steve Jones and In-Fisherman: Perch Tips
Lake Saint Clair Jumbo perch fishing peaks in late summer and fall when many of the lakes muskie, walleye and smallmouth bass anglers focus their efforts on catching limits of perch, some surpassing 14 inches. Perch/crappie rigs baited with minnows, leaf worms, or shrimp work best while fished in 12-18 feet of water when anchored. As the fish move in shallower, fishing with slip bobbers will produce excellent catches when fished in the weed beds. Limits of 50 fish per angler are not uncommon! St. Clair Musky Fishing Report: 9-16-13
What a great day on the water with Michael Cook and sons. Stoney pointe bucktails yellow/brass were the kings of the day as is often the case. 17′ of water fishing the top 2′. Big fish of the day was this healthy 27lb’er by young Mr. Cook.
Lake St. Clair Fishing Report: 9-6-13
What a hog! 51″ 33# muskie. This was one of 7 by Mike Albers aboard The Predator with Captain Steve today – all by 1pm and still fishing! She came in mid lake on double bucktails yellow brass.
Ludington Perch Report: 8-26-13
Lake Michigan has much more to offer than just salmon. Check out this mess of jumbos from the mid lake near the weather buoy. As always, minnows were the hot ticket.
Ludington Fishing Report 8-21-13
Check out this 25# king off Point Ludington by Tracy Julia. It came on a frog meat rig this morning. 225 copper. This is our 5th fish over 25# this year. What a fall and summer for fat, healthy king salmon out of Lake Michigan!
